On display : Vintage car lovers throng auto show

Car lovers from the twin cities descended at Lake View Park on Sunday to take part in an annual auto show.


The show featured classic, vintage cars from the 1950s, sports cars, runners, luxury cars, 4x4 jeeps and off-roaders.

Sports and travel motorbikes have also been put on display at the auto show, organised by by Pakwheels[dot]com, a local automobile website.


More than 500 cars and motorcycles were put on display at the show, making it the biggest such event in the capital.

Participant Sardar Waseemuddin, a resident of Bahria Town, brought his Chevrolet manufactured in 1958. He said every part of his car was in genuine condition except the outer colour.

He said he once received an offer of Rs7.5million for the car, but he refused to sell.

Similarly, another participant Aman Khan who owns a Mercedes Benz 1963 said originally the car was purchased by the Royal Family of Hunza. He said his grandfather, a friend of Hunza’s royal family, had bought the car.

Multan-based adventure biker Iqbal Javed also attended the show with his Yamaha adventure bike.  “There are only 50 such bikes in the country,” he claimed, and said the bike was worth Rs1.2 million.
