Meals on wheels: ‘Van vendors’ overcharge customers

It is convenient for me to buy vegetables at my doorstep

ISLAMABAD:
Fruit and vegetable vendors selling from vans are reportedly charging higher rates from customers. Residents buy fruits and vegetables from the vendors due to the convenience they provide by reaching most streets in any given sector of the city. “I get fresh vegetables and fruits from a van vendor daily,” said housewife Shumaila Khan, adding “It is convenient for me to buy vegetables at my doorstep.” She complained however of the high prices. “This is completely illegal, and we have apprehended several such vendors in Sector I-9,” an official of the CDA’s enforcement wing said.
