Upcoming athletes: Swimming competition organised for girls
The event was organised by the Women’s Swimming Association of Pakistan at the Wapda Sports Complex
LAHORE:
The Punjab Women’s Open and Age Group Swimming Championship was organised on Sunday.
There were 50 participants from Lahore, over a dozen from Faisalabad and one from Multan. Ameena Ameer Qadri took the first prize in the under-10 category, Maya Chaudhry won in the Under-12 category, Mishael Hyat Ayub took the first prize in the under-14 category and Gulminay Lone won in the under-16 category. Mishael Hyat Ayub took five gold and two silver medals and claimed the title of best swimmer in the event. Her butterfly stroke was especially appreciated by the judges. The event was organised by the Women’s Swimming Association of Pakistan at the Wapda Sports Complex. Scores of friends and family accompanied the participants.
They said girls should be offered more of such opportunities
