Tanvir added to Pakistan’s Test squad
The left-armer flies to New Zealand as his selection is confirmed.
LAHORE:
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent Sohail Tanvir to New Zealand to join the squad after he was deemed fit following a successful start to the domestic season.
Tanvir was selected for the Twenty20s and Tests but failed to prove his fitness and was omitted from the squad. However, the PCB’s medical panel and coaches re-evaluated his fitness and also consulted the Australian doctor who performed surgery on the left-arm seamer before deciding to add him to the squad.
“After evaluating Tanvir, the PCB team is of the view that the more he plays the graft will settle and bending of the knee will improve with the passage of time,” said a PCB statement. He flew out with Taufeeq Umar, Azhar Ali and captain Misbahul Haq, who are all part of the Test squad.
