Under fire: Peace committee volunteer’s wife killed
Militants threw hand grenade at his house in Mohmand

In yet another attack on the residence of a peace committee volunteer in Mohmand Agency, a woman was killed while two others were injured. Political administration official in Ekka Ghund told The Express Tribune unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade at the house of Dawizai peace committee member Zarghoon Shah in Inzari Miangan area of Pandyali tehsil on Friday night.
His wife died in the attack while Zarghoon and his son Hazrat Shah were injured. They were rushed to Peshawar in the morning for medical assistance.
Following the incident, political administration and FC launched a search operation in the area however no arrests were made.
Two more volunteers of the same committee were killed in an improvised explosive device attack only a few hours before the attack on Zarghoon’s house.
No militant group claimed responsibility of the two attacks till the filing of this report.
The Dawizai committee was established along with other committees in 2011 following the military operation in the agency.
It was banned earlier this year by the political administration.
Peace committee members have been attacked by militant organisations in the past and in recent days attacks on them have increased.
At the same time the administration has forbidden support to them through compensations and ammunition that were provided to them in the past.
