MINGORA: In a crackdown against unregistered three-wheelers and motorbikes, hundreds of vehicles were impounded in Swat on Saturday, while police riders were issued orders to wear helmets while patrolling. “After receiving complaints from the parents and elders of the area, a ban has been imposed on underage driving,” DPO Saleem Marwat told the media. “Hundreds of unregistered motorbikes and three-wheelers were also impounded; they are the main cause of traffic jams on the roads of Mingora.” He added that now there would be relatively less traffic jams on the roads. The DPO appealed to the parents and motorbike dealers not to sell the vehicles to underage people as this increases the likelihood of accidents. “Stricter laws will be implemented on use of vehicles by young people.”
