Social welfare: Mobile banking project launched
Sharmila Farooqui says that the launch of the Benazir Bhutto Mobile Banking will bring a new era of development.
KARACHI:
A mobile phone banking project is being introduced in four districts of Pakistan, including Larkana, Layyah, Batagram and Musakhel. Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Information and Archives Sharmila Farooqui said on Monday that the launch of the Benazir Bhutto Mobile Banking in Larkana will bring a new era of development. The banking card will provide protection to women and also enable them to register complaints.
The adviser said this will promote e-banking in the country, while women will get better access to banking systems “for the first time in the history of Pakistan”.
The registered beneficiaries will be given free mobile phone by companies in collaboration with private banks along with 300 free minutes and free balance worth Rs100.
The beneficiaries will be able to find out whether their cash grant has arrived and they will also be able to get other account details on a regular basis. The system will ensure complete transparency in the disbursement of the grants and will be expanded.
