Phase-Wise Election: ECP asked to respond by Sept 15

LAHORE:
Lahore High Court on Friday sought a reply from the ECP in a petition challenging phase-wise local government elections in the province. The judge directed the ECP to submit its response by September 15. Several petitions against phase-wise elections had stated that it was done to benefit PML-N candidates. They said that in the first phase the government had announced election in constituencies where PML-N ticket holders had lost the general election in 2013. They said election in constituencies where the PML-N ticket holders lost in 2013 would be held in the second phase. They requested the court to set aside the decision to hold phase-wise electionw to local governments.
