FAISALABAD: Patients at private clinics and hospitals who are suffering from fever must be tested for dengue fever, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal said on Tuesday. He said it was due to carelessness at private clinics and hospitals that the condition of dengue fever patients deteriorated. Many patients are brought to public hospitals when they reach a critical stage, he said.

The DCO directed the administrations of private hospitals and clinics to test every patient suffering from fever on priority basis. “Those who test positive for dengue virus must be immediately referred to Allied Hospital or the divisional headquarters hospital for treatment.”

He said the public hospitals had set up quarantine wards where patients with dengue fever were provided necessary facilities for treatment.
