HARIPUR:
A girl was gunned down in Hattar village, police and eyewitnesses told The Express Tribune on Tuesday. According to a police official, Amjad Iqbal said his daughter, Noorul Ain, a student at Government Girls High School Hattar, was shot while she was walking to school with her classmates. “Adnan, the son of Aslam, stopped the girls and asked which one of them was Iqbal’s daughter,” said the official. “One of them pointed to Noorul Ain and Adnan allegedly opened fire on her with a 30-bore pistol. She died on the spot.” According to the official, Iqbal had scolded the assailant some days ago for lurking around the streets. “We believe Noorul Ain’s death was an act of vengeance,” he added. Further investigation is under way.
