Zardari convenes PPP meeting in Dubai
Zardari said the party could consider the option of resigning from the NA, the Senate and the Sindh Assembly
KARACHI:
In connection with the paramilitary Rangers’ raids and subsequent arrest of former petroleum minister Dr Asim Hussain, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has convened a meeting of some senior party leaders in Dubai on Tuesday (today).
Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah left the country on Monday to attend the meeting to discuss the action being taken by the federal government.
Other PPP leaders – including Qamar Zaman Kaira, Firdous Ashiq Awan, MNA Faryal Talpur and Home Minister Sohail Anwar Siyal – are also expected to attend the meeting.
“The PPP is likely to issue an ultimatum to the federal government to stop unilateral action against party leaders and the Sindh government,” said a PPP leader. He said the party could consider the option of resigning from the National Assembly, the Senate and the Sindh Assembly.
