5-day biotechnology workshop concludes
At the sessions, students were given the chance to observe different cells using microscopes
PESHAWAR:
A five-day workshop of biotechnology ended at CECOS University on Monday.
“Biocamp” aimed at exposing science students to the world of biotechnology. “Such activities will not only give students a chance to see what they have read in books but would also help them make decisions for their career,” said CECOS University Vice Chancellor Riaz Khattak.
The workshop was part of an outreach programme at the institute for which seven girls and the same number of boys from different parts of the city were chosen from around 70 applicants.
At the sessions, students were given the chance to observe different cells using microscopes and were also taught how to use software used to compare DNA sequences.
“I enjoyed the daily quizzes,” said Samia Ihsan, a second year student at Jinnah College. The camp also inspired participants to switch their career paths to that of biotechnology.
