Tick-tock: City govt prepares plan to beautify Clock Tower
Faisalabad’s Clock Tower will be beautified according to a plan recently developed by the district administration.
A spokesperson for the local administration said buildings around the Clock Tower will be renovated and repainted. The chowk will be illuminated and new lights will be installed in the Clock Tower.
He said shopkeepers of the markets around the chowk have been told to remove old sign boards and put up new ones according to the size and colour approved by the administration. They have been told to cooperate with the administration, he said. “We will take strict action against anyone who tries to hinder our work,” he said.
The foundation for the Clock Tower was laid on November 14, 1903, by Lieutenant Punjab governor Sir Charles Riwaz and a landlord from Abdullah Pur, Faisalabad.
At the time, the budget allocation was Rs18 per square foot.
