Mizmaar launches Spaark academy

School offers courses in drums, guitars and advanced guitars

KARACHI: Having only made their comeback a few months ago, Mizmaar are on a mission to make up for lost time. Ever since their reformation the group has gone onto work on singles (including international collaborations with artistes such as Euphoria) and performed live shows one after the other.

Mizmaar front-man Kashan Admani recently launched another venture under the umbrella of his band titled, School of Performing Arts And Recording Karachi (Spaark) academy, where he aims to train upcoming musicians.

The academy which for the time-being is set up in their studio premises offers courses in drums, guitars and advanced guitars, being taught by musicians Alfred Dmello, Jeremy Kenneth and Kashan Admani.

With another performing arts academy, in the form of Mad (Music Arts and Dance School), already present in the city, Kashan clarified that both the schools were very different from each other. “At our school we are teaching students to play in real-life scenarios — as we are not laying a lot of emphasis on theory and are focusing more on practical instead,” he told The Express Tribune.

Currently functioning at a strength of almost 50 students, Admani is hopeful of expanding the academy in the near future and is in search for potential locations as well. “For now, the classes are taking place six days a week between 3pm to 7pm but as soon as we find another place and have more students, we will be setting up the school over there”.
