KARACHI: A four-wicket haul by Fayyaz Ahmed and an important knock by skipper Major (retd) Hasnain Alam guided Pakistan Disabled Cricket Team to an impressive 20-run win (D/L method) over the Bangladesh Disabled Cricket Team in a rain-interrupted match in the ICRC International T20 Cricket Tournament at the BKSP Cricket Stadium in Dhaka on Saturday.

Electing to bat first, the hosts were restricted to 112 runs in their allotted 20 overs as man-of-the-match Fayyaz dismissed four batsmen along with Rao Javed and Nihar Alam taking two scalps each.

Aminuddin (33) and Drupam Tirthi (22) were the top scorers for Bangladesh.

Chasing 113, Pakistan scored 48 runs in six overs and had lost one wicket before rain stopped play and ended the match in the favour of Pakistan, according to the D/L method.

Alam scored an unbeaten knock of 35 runs off 27 balls, hitting eight fours, while Matloob Qureshi (seven) and Rehan Ghani (two) contributed as well.

“The support I got from the team and the training from the coaches helped me in my bowling,” Fayyaz told The Express Tribune. “The captain’s belief in me raised my confidence and I am glad that I did not falter in front of Bangladesh.”

He further added that coming to Dhaka and playing with other teams is a great opportunity for the confidence and morale of the team, for which he thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Pakistan Disabled Cricket Association.

“Playing in the official jersey of Pakistan feels great and it is like a dream come true,” he said.

Meanwhile in the other match of the day, England defeated India by 24 runs according to the D/L method.

England, batting first, scored 151 runs in their allotted 20 overs, while India was at 50-6 when rain ended the match.

The two victorious teams — Pakistan and England — will now face each other on Sunday.
