KARACHI:
After several weeks of beta testing, Pakistan’s online music-streaming portal Patari is prepared to take flight. The final version of the application was expected to be made available to users by late Friday evening, according to the portal’s official Twitter account.

Sources said that the application for the music-streaming portal had been in its testing phase for a moderately long period of time, with the app developers gathering feedback from users to mend existing problems. In an endeavour to cater to a greater number of users, Patari had launched beta versions of the application on two major platforms, Android and iOS.

Founded by Khalid Bajwa, Humayun Haroon, Faisal Sherjan and Iqbal Talaat, Patari along with Taazi is counted among the few music-streaming portals running in the country that are dedicated to local music content from both emerging and established artists.

In an earlier interview with The Express Tribune, founders of Patari had revealed that, unlike other music-streaming websites, the portal intends to provide artists with a cut from the revenue. They also hoped to enhance a few additional features to their application, including radio, social networking and a recommendation engine.

Despite only containing Pakistani content, Patari houses diverse genres of local music, including the soundtracks to latest local film releases, such as Bin Roye and Karachi Se Lahore, and upcoming ones, such as Swaarangi. It also features tracks from Coke Studio season 8.
