Reforming policing: IG Jamali forms committee to review police needs
The prime objective of the meeting was to uphold good governance in the police department
KARACHI:
Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Hyder Jamali has constituted two committees to prepare a report regarding the resources currently available to police stations and make recommendations regarding the use of arms and ammunitions.
IGP Jamali also directed to prepare a stock position of arms and ammunitions and ensure its distribution and supply according to the needs and requirements of police stations. He gave these directions during a meeting at the Central Police Office which was attended by senior police officials, including AIG of the Research and Development department, Syed Zakir Husain, Traffic AIG Khadim Hussain Bhatti, Special Branch AIG AD Khwaja and Karachi AIG Mushtaq Ahmad Mahar.
The participants noted that it was essential to provide the necessary arms and ammunitions, vehicles and manpower to police stations. The meeting also discussed various reform measures that would ensure better utilisation of available resources and make policing more effective. The prime objective of the meeting was to uphold good governance in the police department and to promote community policing.
