Agro research: USAID arranges training in Netherlands

Horticulture contributes more than 11% to the agriculture GDP

ISLAMABAD: Two groups consisting of 18 participants were sent to the Netherlands by the USAID Training for Pakistan Project to help them get command over various methodologies which can be used effectively to increase the production of vegetables and other crops in a very challenging environment. According to a press release, the training called “Growing high-value vegetables in a controlled environment” was held in May and June 2015. Upon their return, the participants shared their plans on how they would implement the knowledge and new techniques. Horticulture contributes more than 11% to the agriculture GDP. It can fetch up to 15 times more income compared to wheat per unit of land.
