Internet sensation Grumpy Cat will become the first cat to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds museum in San Francisco.

According to Firstpost, the three-year-old cat's wax statue will be made and unveiled later this year after experimenting with five differnet movements of her animatronic.

The wax figure will reportedly purr, close her eyes and fall asleep. The statue will also make stops at five other cities across the US.

A video was posted online that showed how Tardar Sauce aka Grumpy Cat sat, stood and stared as the Madame Tussauds team measured her for the creation of the museum's first animatronic cat. The team also measured the colour of Grumpy Cat's eyes for the statue.

Grumpy Cat shot to stardom when her owner, Tabatha Bundesen’s brother posted a photo of it on Reddit on September 22, 2012.

Now Grumpy is represented by internet meme agent, Ben Lashes and has over 8 million Facebook fans, and half a million Instagram followers.

The cat also has her own brand of iced coffee, Grumppuccino and is the spokescat for Friskies cat food. It has also been on the cover of New York magazine.

The kitty has also featured in film, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever in which she was voiced by star Aubrey Plaza.

According to owner Tabatha, the 29-year-old Arizona native, the cat's permanently grumpy-looking face is due to an underbite and feline dwarfism.
