PESHAWAR: Rescue 1122 offices in Peshawar and Mardan have received 43,000 unnecessary or false calls in the month of August. This was said by Rescue 1122 Spokesperson Bilal Ahmad Faizi on Monday.

He said that in case of an emergency, Rescue 1122 takes immediate action and provides first aid services. Hence, officials from the service are unhappy over the fake calls and appealed to avoid sounding such false alarms. It was the goal of Rescue 1122 officials to take more than 4,000 calls in the month of August, but unnecessary phone calls have made matters difficult.

Workers performed their duty willingly and people of the province were pleased with them, he claimed. He added 560 traffic and 60 fire incidents were reported in August. He said the Rescue 1122 Peshawar office dealt with a total of 900 traffic accident cases and provided medical treatment to 700 people.

Meanwhile, it also provided on-spot treatment to more than 300 people, he said. Faizi maintained 32 fire cases were reported in different places of Peshawar and Rescue 1122 firefighters battled with the flames to protect lives and property.

Meanwhile, 1,400 traffic and 1,300 medical cases were tackled in Mardan for first aid, while those critically injured were rushed to hospitals, Fazi said. He explained that first aid was provided to more than 200 people in 25 incidents in the district. “Around 50 cases of drowning were reported in Peshawar and Mardan,” he said. Despite the massive traffic inside the city, Rescue 1122 team reached the spot within five minutes.

The Rescue 1122 spokesperson asked the public to cooperate with them and avoid making fake calls. Answering a question, he said they blocked such phone numbers that called the office incessantly.
