Real estate: Co-op societies to automate land record
The minister was speaking to representatives of cooperative housing schemes

Cooperatives Minister Muhammad Iqbal Channar on Sunday directed all cooperative housing societies to computerise their property record. He also asked the societies to use biometric technology to verify transfer of ownership of plots. The minister was speaking to representatives of cooperative housing schemes. He said that of a Rs109 million grant issued to the cooperatives, Rs9 million would be spent on computerisation of property record. He said to encourage societies to automate records the Cooperatives Department had distributed stamp-paper readable machines among some cooperative societies. He said the societies could use the machines to distinguish original stamp papers from counterfeits. The minister said the provincial government planned to spend around Rs 850 million this year to help cooperative societies.
