The prime suspect involved in a case of firing at former cricketer Wasim Akram tendered an apology to the cricket superstar on Sunday.
The suspect, Major (retd) Amirul Rehman, wrote a letter to the former Pakistan cricket captain, unconditionally apologizing for the"sad incident", adding that he had to face strong opposition from his family due to the road-rage incident.
“You are our national hero, our pride. How can I think to fight with you?” he wrote in his letter.

However, what impact this letter will leave on the legal matter vis-à-vis the firing incident is yet to be ascertained.
On August 5, Akram remained unhurt following an attack on his car near National Stadium in Karachi.

Akram’s car met with an accident on Karsaz Road near National Stadium. Following a row with the driver of the car, a 2002 Honda Civic, the private guard sitting with the driver fired at Akram’s car. Before police could arrive at the scene, the driver and his guards managed to flee. However, there were no casualties reported during the incident.
After the incident, Akram called the police helpline 15 and registered a complaint.
