Rising smoke: Fire breaks out in taluka municipal office in Ghotki

The records pertaining to development works, recruitment of staff and other important documents were burnt to ashes in the fire, said official sources. The fire started from the accounts department of the TMA.

The taluka municipal officer Tariq Hussain Bughio and other officials reportedly rushed to the scene and supervised the firefighters while they stopped the fire.

Later, Ghotki deputy commissioner Tahir Watoo visited the site and ordered the officials to seal the office.

Fire broke out due to the short circuiting of electric wiring, said Bughio while addressing the media. Some journalists speculated that the office was burnt deliberately to conceal the massive corruption in development works and recruitment of ghost employees.
