Shaan-e-Pakistan unveils designer line-up

Ali Xeeshan and House of Umar Sayeed among those set to take the ramp

KARACHI: Shaan-e-Pakistan, an initiative that attempts to offer a unified platform to Pakistani and Indian cultural players, has released the designer line-up for the event. Featuring a string of Pakistani and Indian designer ensembles, ranging from bridals to prêt to high-street to lawn, the three-day event is slated to take place from September 10 to 12 in New Delhi, according to a press release. 

Among the noted Pakistani labels that will take the ramp at the occasion are Ali Xeeshan, Braahtii By Huma Nassr, House of Umar Sayeed and Zainab Chottani. Designers, who will exhibit their work at the event along with presenting their collections on the ramp, include Pakistani designers Asifa and Nabeel, House of Arsalan Iqbal, Sana Abbas, Sanam Agha and Rema Qureshi, and Arshi Jamal and Raakesh Agarwal from India. To promote brand accessibility, day two of Shaan-e-Pakistan will see exhibitors, such as Ensemble from Pakistan and Anju Modi from India, showcase their work on stalls.

The first night of the event will be a gala night titled ‘Ek Shaam Pakistan ke Naam’, where Pakistani qawwal Amjad Sabri is slated to perform. The event will also include a fusion of Indo-Pak flavours of food, with Pakistani chef Gulzar Hussain Indian chef Osama Jalali set to show their cooking skills to a diverse set of attendees.

The initiative has been launched by Pakistani designer Huma Nassr, who has made her mark both in Pakistan and across the border. It has been extended supported by the Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi, and Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
