FAISALABAD:

A terror suspect was killed along with his wife and children inside his home in the Pir Mahel locality of Toba Tek Singh district during an encounter on Thursday.

Toba Tek Singh police chief Shehzad Akbar told The Express Tribune that acting on intelligence reports, a contingent of police commandos and security forces encircled a house in the Pir Mahel locality where the alleged terrorist, Habibur Rehman, was living.

“A man identified as Habibur Rehman was running a business of washing powder supply in the town,” the SHO of the local police station said. Except for the sudden disclosure that he was a high-profile al Qaeda operative, Rehman was living a normal life with his family in this community, SHO Chaudhry Akhtar said.

According to DPO Akbar, Rehman resisted arrest and opened fire on police personnel and even lobbed grenades, injuring a policeman. The police returned fire and shot dead Rehman in an encounter. His wife and children died in the firefight.

Ravian | 9 years ago | Reply Could not the police be a bit more professional and plan arrest in a such a way that the wife and the children were spared? Violence begets violence. Now his accomplices have a reason to attack women and children.
