Stay safe: Campaign against motorcyclists not wearing helmets
More than 700 traffic wardens will be deployed to check motorcycle drivers in the city who do not wear helmets
FAISALABAD:
The traffic police are planning to launch a city-wide crackdown from August 29 against motorcycle drivers who do not wear helmets while driving, Chief Traffic Officer Muhammad Masoom said on Thursday.
He said the crackdown had been announced earlier as a warning to drivers. “We have tried to raise awareness about the importance of wearing helmets but most motorcycle drivers do not pay heed…this is why we have planned to launch a grand operation.” The CTO said wearing a helmet could save a driver’s life. “Sometimes it’s the only difference between life and death.” He said motorcyclists are requested to start wearing helmets voluntarily or be prepared to face the music. “All traffic wardens will participate in the crackdown…those found violating the rules will not be spared at any cost.” More than 700 traffic wardens will be deployed to check motorcycle drivers in the city who do not wear helmets.
