MINGORA:

Students of the mass communication department at University of Swat will now be able to put their studies into practice as the varsity’s campus radio has been inaugurated.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony at the institute on Thursday, University of Swat Vice Chancellor Professor Jehanzeb Khan said the initiative will initially begin as a web radio and provide information online.

“The radio can be accessed from the university’s website and is run by the media and communication department,” Jehanzeb said. “Transmissions will be conducted in English, Urdu and Pashto and will reach out to people across Malakand.”

He added the university also plans to launch an FM station that will be aired in the entire division.

Earlier this week, a newly-upgraded FM radio station was launched in Mohmand Agency.
