Bad Bargain: ‘Cops should return the bribe I paid’
Petitioner told the court that he had paid DSP Abid Pehalwan, ASIs Ilyas Bhatti and Waqas Bhatti Rs500,000

An additional district and sessions judge on Wednesday sought comments from the Ravi Road SHO on a petition seeking a case against police officials for accepting a bribe and later forcing the complainant to withdraw his complaint. Petitioner Muhammad Ashiq told the court that he had paid DSP Abid Pehalwan, ASIs Ilyas Bhatti and Waqas Bhatti Rs500,000 for police action on a complaint. He said later, they had returned Rs300,000 and urged him to withdraw the complaint. He said when he asked them to return the remaining Rs200,000, the officials threatened to implicate his son in a false case. He asked the court to direct the SHO to register a case against the officials.
