Meeting: ‘5,000MW more electricity by 2017’

Representatives of Chinese company Sinosure assured the chief minister on cooperation on energy projects

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Wednesday that 5,000 megawatts would be added to the national grid by 2017 with the completion of projects under Pak-China agreements. He was talking to a delegation of Chinese investment companies. Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal, CM’s Advisor on Health Khawaja Salman Rafiq and Lahore Transport Company Chairman Ahmad Hasan were also present. The chief minister said a committee had been set up under the chairmanship of Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli to implement the economic package. He said Pakistan and China had similar views on various international issues. Sharif said Chinese investors supplying electricity would not face delay in payments as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had resolved the circular debt crisis.  He said that the CPEC was a shared vision of the leaders of the two countries.  He said the Chinese president’s visit to Pakistan had showed the world that no power could harm Pak-China friendship. Representatives of Chinese company Sinosure assured the chief minister on cooperation on energy projects.
