Crime: Man killed for money
Derawar police have registered a case on Ghaffar’s complaint
BAHAWALPUR:
A man was killed, allegedly by his servant, over money late on Monday. His brother Abdul Ghaffar, a resident of Karna Basti, Bahawalpur, told journalists that his mud house had been swept away in the recent rains so he had moved to his brother’s house in Chak 135 DNB. He said he was sleeping when he heard a commotion in the room his brother slept in at around 4am.
“I rushed to his room and saw his servant Muhammad Aslam sitting on my brother’s chest and strangling him.” Ghaffar said he ran to grab Aslam but he managed to flee on his brother’s motorcycle. Later, they found out that Rs100,000, kept in his brother’s room, was missing. He said Sattar had died on the spot. Derawar police have registered a case on Ghaffar’s complaint. The deceased had four sons and a daughter.
