Protest Demo: Slum dwellers for end to eviction drive
They also called upon the CDA to resettle evicted katchi abadi residents
ISLAMABAD:
Hundreds of katchi abadi dwellers on Tuesday held a protest demonstration outside the National Press Club against the CDA’s ongoing campaign against illegal housing settlements in the capital. Residents from various informal settlements in Islamabad participated in the protest, which was organised by the World Minorities Alliance and the All Pakistan Alliance for Katchi Abadis.Representatives of APAKA, WMA and the Awami Workers Party said their peaceful struggle against forced evictions would continue. They said housing needs of the city’s working class had been given no consideration by the city’s planners and administrators. They also called upon the CDA to resettle evicted katchi abadi residents.
