Beyond borders: Extended stay for refugees opposed
The official added this has negatively impacted the province
PESHAWAR:
The provincial government opposed the Centre’s decision to extend the stay of Afghan refugees in Pakistan for another two years. An official privy to the development said the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government vehemently opposed such an extension, saying the decision was taken without thorough consultation. “A large number of unregistered Afghan refugees reside in Peshawar and other districts of the province,” he said. The official added this has negatively impacted the province. He said the provincial government was completely against the decision and urged the Centre to reconsider it.
