‘Illegal recruitments’: SC seeks reply from Sindh police chief

The Supreme Court has sought a response from Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali over alleged illegal appointments in the Sindh police department.

The Supreme Court has sought a response from Inspector General of Police Ghulam Hyder Jamali over alleged illegal appointments in the Sindh police department.
The top court’s human rights cell had forwarded a clipping from a regional newspaper to newly appointed Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Jawwad S Khawaja regarding 2,800 “illegal recruitments” in the provincial police department.
Later, on the orders of CJP Khawaja, the human rights cell of the apex court sought a report from Sindh police chief Jamali over the matter by August 31. According to a senior official at the court, if the chief justice is not satisfied over the report, then a judicial order might be passed to fix a date in the matter before the bench, adding that the police chief could also be summoned over the issue.
