Administrative matters: GCU Syndicate delegates limited powers to dean

The Government College University (GCU) Syndicate on Saturday delegated limited powers to Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Islamullah Khan until the appointment of a vice chancellor.
The syndicate made the move at a meeting summoned by Registrar Akhyar Farrukh.
The meeting, chaired by University of Veterinary and Health Sciences Lahore Vice Chancellor Talat Naseer Pasha, had been called under Section 2(c) of the GCU Syndicate Business Rules 2004, a spokesperson for the GCU said. He said Khan had been delegated powers under The Government College University, Lahore Ordinance, 2002, to address financial and academic matters of “the most urgent nature”.
Lahore High Court’s (LHC) Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, former LHC chief justice Khwaja Muhammad Sharif, cricketer Shafqat Rana and MPAs Hassaan Riaz and Nazia Raheel attended the meeting.
