KARACHI: All Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations across Sindh will remain closed on Saturday.

According to a notification issued by the Sui Southern Gas Corporations (SSGC), consumers could face low gas pressure as the pressure in SSGC’s system have gone low due to reduction in gas supply from one of its fields.

Complying with sector-wise priority for gas load management, the authority has decided to close all the CNG stations in the province.

The CNG stations will remain closed for 24 hours starting from 8am on Saturday morning.

Read: CNG prices likely to be deregulated

Recently the government had announced that it is planning to stop fixing prices of compressed natural gas (CNG) for all retail outlets across the country and let the industry set consumer rates for the fuel that is cheaper than petrol.

Though a similar proposal was discussed in July last year, the government had turned it down. Now the situation is quite different as imported liquefied natural gas (LNG) is being used in CNG filling stations in the province of Punjab.
