LAHORE:

Young Doctors’ Association on Thursday staged protests on various city roads.

Dozens of doctors blocked The Mall, Jail Road, Queen’s Road, Ferozpur Road and Maulana Shaukat Ali Road. They shouted slogans against the government. Adnan Salim, one of the protesters, said they had no option but to stage demonstrations because the government had not fulfilled its promise to solve their problems. Arsalan Hameed, another protester, said the government’s attitude had forced them on to the streets.

Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema deputed 13 inspectors and 495 wardens to deal with traffic jams caused by the protests. He visited Jinnah Hospital, the Lahore General Hospital, Fatima Memorial Hospital, Mayo Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital and directed traffic police officials to divert traffic to other roads.
