Double murders: Life sentence handed to five

A fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on each

KHAIRPUR: Five men accused of double murders were sentenced to life imprisonment and a fine was imposed on them on Thursday. Khairpur second additional district and sessions judge Aftab Ahmed Arian announced the verdict and the five accused, Abdul Hameed Khaskheli, Ali Akber Khaskheli, Imdad Khaskheli, Saeedullah Khaskheli and Gulzar Khaskheli, were sentenced to life in prison and a fine of Rs100,000 was imposed on each. In case they fail to pay the fine, the accused will spend one more year in jail. The accused killed two labourers, Illmuddin Leghari and Abdullah Leghari, near Sanjar Khan Leghari village, in 2010 over a dispute. Meanwhile, the court also sentenced them to three more years each and imposed a fine of Rs30,000 each in another case of carrying illegal arms. The accused will remain in jail for six more months if they fail to pay the fine.
