Welfare: 25 homeless children rescued

The Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) rescued 25 homeless children from parts of the city on Thursday.



Child Protection Officer Ali Abid Naqvi said the children had been found from Lorry Adda, GTS Chowk, Madni Chowk Samanabad, Novelty Bridge, Sargodha Road, Jhang Road, Kutchery Bazaar, Gumti Chowk Rail Bazaar, Railway Station, D-Ground and Montgomery Bazaar.

He said they had been seen begging and looking for food from garbage dumps. He said they were taken to a CPWB centre where 63 children were already housed.

He said they would get education, vocational training, food and health and recreational facilities.
