Dozens of doctors led by Young Doctors’ Association on Thursday staged a protest demonstration to press their demands.
In Bahawalpur the YDA staged a protest demonstration in front of Bahawal Victoria Hospital.
YDA leader Munir Ahmad said the government had announced seats for postgraduate residents but had not provided funds for this purpose. He said the government was “covertly” privatising public health facilities. He said the YDA would continue to protest until the government reversed its plans to privatise health centres. In Dera Ghazi Khan, doctors of the DHQ Hospital boycotted outpatient department duties. They took a rally to the medical superintendent’s office. YDA district president Muhammad Yasir Bhatti said the Health Department should improve security around the hospital. He said Ghazi Khan Medical College should be affiliated with Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
