ATC accepts chargesheet against Safoora attack suspects

Government appoints two public prosecutors to represent the state in the case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC-I) on Thursday accepted an interim chargesheet produced against the suspects of the Safoora bus attack. 

The five suspects involved in the case, including Tahir Hussain Minhas alias Saeen, Saad Aziz alias Tin Tin, Asadur Rehman alias Malik, Hafiz Nasir as well as Azhar Ishrat, had been arrested and remain in police custody till date.

Further, the police have named at least 10 suspects absconding in the case with 64 witnesses also mentioned in the case - including the injured and the rescuers.

According to the procedure followed by the ATC, copies of the chargesheet and other relevant documents will be given to the suspects during the next hearing in order to formally apprise them of the allegations.

The challan was prepared about three months after the arrest of the suspects. Further, at this point the government has appointed two public prosecutors, Muhammad Khan Burero and Mubashir Mirza to represent the state.
