Clarifying that Godil was not yet out of danger, Rizvi said the parliamentarian had started to show natural responses and that it was a sign of recovery. The spokesperson added that in case Godil’s condition worsened, he would be placed on ventilator support again.
“The government is doing every effort to take care of Rashid Godil,” the spokesperson added.
Dr Jahanzeb, who is looking after the MQM lawmaker also confirmed that Godil is recovering and has been removed from ventilator.
“Godil has talked to me through body movements and this suggests his condition is improving,” he added. Further, the doctor informed that Godil will be kept in the intensive care unit of the hospital for a week or two.

Godil was attacked by four armed men on motorcycles in Bahadurabad locality of Karachi on Tuesday morning. He received gunshot wounds to his jaw, neck and upper torso, causing massive damage to his lungs. Godil’s driver, Abdul Mateen, was killed in the attack.
District East police chief SSP Javed Jiskani said the JIT had obtained CCTV footage from the cameras installed along the route from Defence to Baloch Colony. “The footage shows Godil’s car but we are having problems trying to trace the motorcycle the attackers used. A number of motorcycles are seen in the footage,” he said.
The police have announced a Rs5 million reward for anyone who comes forth with information that can help the investigators. A case against unidentified suspects was registered late Wednesday night.
