FIR registered for gun attack on Rashid Godil

The case was registered at New Town police station under sections 302, 324, 34 of PPC and 7ATA

KARACHI: A day after unknown armed assailants attacked Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Rashid Godil, an FIR was registered at New Town police station on Wednesday.

Godil had been attacked by four armed men riding on a motorcycle in Bahadurabad locality of Karachi on Tuesday morning. He received gunshot wounds to his jaw, neck and upper torso, causing massive damage to his lungs. Godil’s driver, Abdul Mateen, was also killed in the attack.

The case, FIR No 254/1, was registered at New Town police station under Sections 302, 324 and 34 of the PPC and clause 7 of the Anti Terrorism Act for Mateen’s murder and the attack on Godil.

The complainant in his statement said that Godil's wife was in the car at the time of the attack, but remained unhurt. The statement added that said that as soon as Godil's car crossed the Naheed Super Store, armed men opened indiscriminate fire at the car, critically injuring Godil and killing his driver.
