Selena Gomez made a surprise visit to a high school volleyball game in Telluride, Colorado, after fans requested her presence.

The actress, known for her role in Only Murders in the Building, shared the experience on her Instagram on Saturday, August 31, during her time in town for the 2024 Telluride Film Festival, where she was promoting her new film Emilia Pérez.

In her Instagram post, Gomez shared a set of photos and videos from the event, including the original note she discovered at the school.

The bright orange note read, "Selena Gomez, Please sing the National Anthem @ one of [our] home games," and was decorated with hearts along with the coach's email address.

Captioning her post, Gomez wrote, "They asked!! Couldn’t help it, it’s my first time in Telluride!"

Though she didn’t sing the anthem, Gomez made an appearance, entering the school's gym to the delight of students who eagerly called out her name.

In one of the videos, she can be seen addressing the excited crowd, saying, "I saw the sign and so I had to come," as she was met with cheers and laughter.

She took time to pose for a group photo with the volleyball team and signed autographs for students in the school’s hallway.

Gomez's gesture was warmly received by fans and celebrities alike. "The kindest heart indeed 🥹," commented Zoe Saldaña, while Ashley Park noted, "This is so sweet ❤️." Gomez’s boyfriend, Benny Blanco, also showed his approval with a series of heart emojis.

The actress’s visit to Telluride was primarily for the promotion of Emilia Pérez, a musical comedy and crime film directed by Jacques Audiard.

The movie, which also stars Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón, and Edgar Ramírez, tells the story of a lawyer in Mexico who receives an unexpected proposal to help a "feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he's always dreamed of being."

The film is currently available on Netflix.
