Duty: No extension for July’s sales tax

The extension has been granted under section 74 of Sales Tax Act 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act 2005

ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the date for submission of sales tax and federal excise return up to August 21 for the tax period July 2015 for all registered persons. The extension has been granted under section 74 of Sales Tax Act 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act 2005, according to a statement issued by the FBR. However, it is clarified that there will be no change in the date of payment of sales tax and federal excise duty dues for July 2015. This had already been extended to August 17 by virtue of Section 10 of the General Clauses Act 1897.
