In view of Punjab Home Minister Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada’s death in a suicide attack on his political office in Shadi Khan near Attock on Sunday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been advised against celebrating its win in the NA-19 (Haripur) by-elections.

According to unofficial results of the by-poll received from 282 polling stations in the constituency until late Sunday night, PML-N candidate Babar Nawaz was ahead with 95,022 votes in the poll, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Raja Amir was trailing with 48,129 votes.

According to a spokesperson for the party, PML-N workers have been requested to offer special prayers for all the victims of the attack and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families. “The nation grieves over the sad demise of its heroes.”
