Weekly markets: Shoppers critical of unclean setting

Other shoppers said the dust posed a serious health hazard by contaminating produce

ISLAMABAD:
Regular customers of the capital administration’s weekly fruit and vegetable market on Fridays near Pakistan Town have demanded proper arrangements at the market, made up of makeshift stalls over muddy grounds. The market attracts large numbers of shoppers due to the controlled, affordable prices of fruits and vegetables. Amna Batool, a resident of PWD Colony, said authorities need to take notice of huge dust clouds over the market due to vehicular and pedestrian movement nearby. Jalil Malik, a retired civil servant, said authorities have failed to construct concrete pavements on the ground allocated for stalls. Other shoppers said the dust posed a serious health hazard by contaminating produce.
