Crime scene: Mother and daughter found dead
Their bodies were found inside their house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar
KARACHI:
The bodies of a woman and her daughter were found inside their house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday.
The deceased, Sakina, 35, and her six-year-old daughter Mehwish, resided at Bhittaiabad within the limits of Sacchal police. "We found the bodies from their bedroom," said Sacchal DSP Khalid Khan, while talking to The Express Tribune. "Both the mother and the daughter were murdered." The police investigators suspect that the victims might have been given a poisonous substance before being stabbed.
The bodies were handed over to their family for burial after the completion of medico-legal formalities at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. The doctors have taken their sample to find out whether or not the deceased were poisoned.
Sakina's husband Abid is a policeman posted at New Town police station, said a police official. Abid was on duty when the incident occurred but his brother was at home, he added. Abid's brother, in his recorded statement, claims he was unaware of the incident as he was sleeping on the roof when it occurred.
Sacchal SHO Ejaz Baloch said that the police are investigating the case but they suspect that the incident may have occurred over a family dispute."We suspect the direct or indirect involvement of Abid and his brother," said Baloch. "We are waiting as they are busy in the burial process but we will detain them for questioning." The police have obtained fingerprints from the house and have sent them for investigation. No case has been registered.
In another incident, a young man was found dead within the limits of Gulbahar police station. The deceased has yet to be identified. Police officials said that the man was shot by unidentified men. They also recovered an empty shell of the pistol from the crime scene. A case has been registered by the police.
Meanwhile, a decomposed body was found from Musharraf Colony area within the jurisdiction of Mochko police station. Police officials said that the body was at least 15 days old and was shifted to Edhi morgue after the completion of medico-legal formalities at Civil hospital.
