Tragedy: Woman dies in metro bus accident
Woman fell while getting on the bus and was run over
RAWALPINDI:
A 53-year-old woman died after she was run over by a metro bus at Liaqat Bagh station on Friday afternoon. A Rescue 1122 spokesperson told The Express Tribune that the woman fell while getting on the bus and was run over. The woman was identified as Hameeda Begum, a resident of Model Town Humak.
The victim’s sons claimed that the accident occurred due to the driver’s negligence. They said the driver sped away when she was getting on the bus. Bus authorities, however, could not be reached. Rescue 1122 responded in six minutes and shifted the woman to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Another person was injured when a wall, hit by a rickshaw, collapsed in Chungi Number 22, Rawalpindi. Rescue 1122 shifted the victim to a hospital.
