KARACHI:

Independence Day celebrations in Bahria Town Karachi started late on Thursday night with the national anthem, followed by musical performances by renowned artistes and an outstanding show of fireworks. Hundreds of thousands of Karachiites delighted in the grand event.

Bahria Town has organised a two-day programme on the occasion of the 69th Independence Day of Pakistan – which includes colourful performances, music, entertainment, fun, food and games.

The children’s area features a puppet show, face painting and many other activities to keep the young ones entertained.

The entire event includes family programmes and there is no entry fee to attend the function.

Abrarul Haq, Fariha Pervez, Sanam Marvi, Bushra Ansari and Behroze Sabzwari presented special performances. The event will continue throughout the day on Friday from 11am to 11pm.

The visitors had nothing but praise for the impressive event. They commended the entire function for its colours and lights that played a major role in generating a spirit of patriotism among the younger visitors.

They said they felt that the new generation, which had started its life in an atmosphere of fear, would see a brighter future as a result of the efforts by the Bahria Town.

Bahria Town Vice-Chief Executive Zain Malik said the enthusiastic participation of the people of Karachi in the programme proved that Karachi was a city of peace and that Bahria Town had removed the shadows of fears from the port city and revealed the face of a peaceful metropolis.
