PESHAWAR:
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has introduced a computerised data centre at its Peshawar office.

This was stated in a handout issued by the company on Thursday. According to the document, the new initiative was inaugurated by Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan.

“The centre will facilitate industrial, commercial and domestic consumers,” read the statement. “Furthermore, it will link all Pesco sectors and carry out a diverse menu of functions in a quick and effective way.”

The handout added the initiative will enable customers to resolve their power woes online.

“The data centre is perhaps the first one in Pakistan in the utility sector,” the handout quoted Mehtab as saying. “Through the centre, billing, collection and other related issues will be addressed in a timely and efficient manner.”

Looking ahead

The governor was told the centre has been established through technical and financial support from US Agency for International Development.

“Mehtab said the services of the centres would be aimed at facilitating the needs of people across the province,” stated the handout. “The governor lauded the efforts of USAID for supporting the data centre and other projects the agency is involved in to improve Pesco’s efficiency.”

Officials of the company vowed to utilise their expertise to not only provide benefits for customers but also reduce the company’s financial deficit.
